Culture and gastronomy at the Aître Saint-Maclou
A Canardier dinner took place on November 17th and gathered about forty guests at “Café Hamlet”, a new restaurant located in Aître Saint-Maclou and owned by renowned chefs Gilles TOURNADRE and Philippe COUDY. After the aperitif, the guests had Oxtail Terrine with Foie Gras, Scallops from Normandy and Dessert, served with white and red wine from Sancerre.
Before the meal a guide gave the group a tour of the Aître Saint-Maclou, which has recently been renovated, with its timber-framed buildings and its stone statues which tell the story of this former ossuary. The visitors could even see an excavated skeleton. The story of this place is linked to historical epidemics, such as the plague, which spread all over the world (history repeats itself, doesn’t it ?)
All in all, it was another successful evening thanks to historical and gastronomic discoveries in a convivial atmosphere.
