Daytrip to Cabourg
The Côte Fleurie, Proust, the “Belle Époque” – here were the ingredients for a successful Canardier outing in Cabourg, followed by lunch and the induction of a new Master Canardier in Varaville on June 29th.
The day started with a visit of the “Maison du Temps Perdu”, a museum showcasing the development of Cabourg, life in the Belle Époque and a special exhibition on Max Linder.
Next, 28 members of the Ordre des Canardiers met at Chef Thierry RAMARD's restaurant "Au Pied des Marais" in Varaville. Inducted as Gentleman Canardier in Deauville during a Canardier event in 2020, Thierry RAMARD, who owns a duck press, had expressed the wish to offer the recipe in his restaurant and thus become Maître Canardier. After making a Canard à la Rouennaise a few weeks ago, in the presence of Gérard COUDRAY, Vice-President of the Ordre des Canardiers, Thierry RAMARD was inducted as Maître Canardier before beginning the meal. He "inaugurated" his new title with a demonstration during the aperitif. This was followed by Fish Tartare, Lamb cooked over an open fire and a plate of desserts including Teurgoule. Many thanks to Thierry and his brigades for a very pleasant time in his restaurant, and to Patrick HERR and Jean-Pierre VILLETTE for organizing the day.
